The debut studio album by jazz vocalist/arranger Madeline Dalton, Thrift Shop Girl Talk, features seven songs by legendary women in pop music–from Carole King to Chappell Roan and Sara Bareilles to Sabrina Carpenter–reimagined as big band vocal jazz. By bringing the compositions of women into a musical genre that has historically excluded them, Dalton hopes to make young women feel seen in jazz music.
Dalton’s co-arrangements with Adam Dorfman (The Outsiders 1st Nat’l Tour, Associate Music Director) are the centerpiece of Thrift Shop Girl Talk, paying homage to the jazz greats with a 21st Century sensibility. Featured vocalists Aeden Alvarez & Alyssa Wray bring a sprinkle of pop, RnB, and theatrical flair to balance Dalton's warm jazz delivery and powerhouse belt. Recorded at Ensemble Recording in NYC, Dorfman’s sparkling big band orchestrations are played by dozens of the city's brightest jazz instrumentalists, hailing from Broadway musical orchestras and New York's hottest jazz clubs. Thrift Shop Girl Talk establishes Dalton as a creative force to be reckoned with, building a sonic bridge between long-time jazz fans and brand new listeners.

"L'Amour De Ma Vie" reimagines Billie Eilish's nonchalant breakup song as an orchestral jazz ballad with a nod to the classic standard "La Vie en Rose". These Parisian trumpet solos and lush string arrangements have never made heartbreak feel more dramatic. Or ironic.

She is known for her jazz arrangements of hits by female singer-songwriters, such as Sara Bareilles, Olivia Rodrigo, and Carole King.
